Terms of Service

Please read carefully. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Kilimo Box Ltd. By registering or using the platform you confirm that you have read and understood these terms.

1Acceptance of Terms

  • By accessing or using Kilimo Box ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
  • If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Platform.
  • We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you 14 days before material changes take effect via WhatsApp or email.

2Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform.
  • You must complete KYC verification before accessing paid features, stock submissions, or disbursements.
  • Organisations must be legally registered in Tanzania to use B2B, export, or BDS features.

3Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and phone number.
  • You must notify us immediately at support@kilimo.co.tz if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • You may not share your account credentials with third parties.
  • One account per individual or organisation. Duplicate accounts will be suspended.

4Marketplace & Transactions

  • All prices on the marketplace are in Tanzanian Shillings (TZS) unless stated otherwise.
  • Kilimo Box acts as an intermediary marketplace. We are not a party to transactions between buyers and farmers.
  • Stock submissions are subject to quality review. Accepted quantities and prices are final upon admin approval.
  • B2B RFQs expire after 72 hours. Standing orders auto-generate every Monday.
  • Subscription boxes are auto-generated 3 days before the scheduled delivery date.

5Payments & Disbursements

  • Payments are processed via Selcom, Azam Pay, or Stripe. All payment data is encrypted.
  • Farmer disbursements are triggered after admin approval of stock submissions.
  • We reserve the right to withhold payment if we reasonably suspect fraud or policy violation.
  • Refunds are processed within 7 business days, subject to our Refund Policy.
  • Currency conversion fees (for USD/export transactions) are borne by the buyer.

6Certifications

  • Certificates issued by Kilimo Box are for platform purposes and do not replace official government certifications.
  • Certificate expiry reminders are sent 30 days and 7 days before expiry. A 14-day grace period applies after expiry.
  • Misrepresentation of certification status is grounds for immediate account suspension.

7Prohibited Conduct

  • Submitting false stock data, manipulated quality photos, or fraudulent KYC documents.
  • Using the AI assistant (Msaidizi) to generate or spread misinformation about agricultural inputs or practices.
  • Scraping or systematically extracting market price data for commercial redistribution.
  • Creating accounts to manipulate auction prices, certifications, or trust scores.
  • Posting defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful content in testimonies or forums.

8Intellectual Property

  • The Kilimo Box platform, brand, and all original content are owned by Kilimo Box Ltd.
  • Farmers retain ownership of their farm data, photos, and submissions.
  • By submitting content, you grant Kilimo Box a non-exclusive licence to display and process it within the platform.
  • You may not reproduce or redistribute Kilimo Box design, code, or data without written permission.

9Limitation of Liability

  • Kilimo Box is not liable for crop losses, pest damage, or weather events, even if advised through the platform.
  • Market price data is informational only. We do not guarantee any specific selling price.
  • The platform is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
  • Our total liability to any user in any 12-month period is capped at TZS 1,000,000.

10Termination

  • You may close your account at any time by contacting support@kilimo.co.tz.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these terms, fraud, or inactivity exceeding 24 months.
  • Upon termination, your access to the platform ceases. Data is retained for 3 years for legal and audit purposes.
  • Pending disbursements at the time of account closure will still be processed.

11Governing Law

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
  • Any disputes shall first be attempted through good-faith mediation.
  • Unresolved disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
